There’s something humbling about standing at the edge of the ocean. You feel the breeze, watch children splash at the shore, and all seems peaceful—until you remember that the same sea can rise into monstrous waves and sink ships. How can something so beautiful also be so powerful?
That’s the mystery of God, too.
He’s tender and close, yet he’s also the one who formed stars with a whisper and separated the seas. To fear God isn’t about cowering in terror—it’s about standing in awe. It’s knowing that the father who holds us is also the King who holds the cosmos.
When we forget the fear of God, we lose our sense of wonder. When we remember it, we find both comfort and confidence—because the one we revere is also the one who loves us beyond measure.
Pray: God, help me see you rightly today. Let me marvel at your power and rest in your presence. When I forget how big you are, remind me gently. When I feel overwhelmed, help me remember that the one who commands the oceans also cares for me. Amen.
