What do most large, non-violent social change movements have in common? They were all heavily influenced by the teachings of Jesus! Namely, they were influenced by Jesus' most popular teaching, the Sermon on the Mount. The Sermon on the Mount can be encouraging, uplifting, challenging, uncomfortable, and radical all within 3 chapters in the book of Matthew. Over the time we spend together we will follow along with the Bible Project, and ask the questions: What did Jesus actually teach? What do I do with what he taught? How might the world change if I live out the teaching of Jesus? We will meet on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 6-7:30pm, from February 1 through April 18. First Thursdays will take place at LCBC Columbia-Montour; third Thursdays will be a virtual meeting.
